Galata Tower

When I first got to Istanbul, my main focus was on rehearsals and practicing my instruments.  That is not to say that I did not go out exploring.  I just did not visit any of the attractions.  As I explored more and more, there was one attraction which seemed to be taunting me: The Galata Tower.  I somehow kept ended up at it, but not having to time to go up in the tower.

Finally I had the time so I grabbed my cameras and got in line.

There really is not much to the tower.  You go through the lobby, buy a ticket, and take an elevator up to the observation level.

The view was worth the taunting I endured.

This is facing north to where our hotel is.

Istiklal - a long shopping promenade that leads to the tower.  More on that later.

Europe in the foreground and Asia in the background.

The Golden Horn with all the big tourist attractions.
